Well this is the last post for this forum page. We have been running it for a year but now it has become possible to run an active blog on our main page. So From this point forward you can check out all that is happening at the Player Slayers. The link is http://www.theplayerslayers.com/ and it will be on the main page.

This weeks tournaments will be posted on the main page but here is what happened last Sunday. We had an eight man event that featured two of the founding five. Caesar and myself (Chris) made the cut to top four and were faced against challenging matchups. I had to attempt to stall the goblin horde controlled by Gary. Somehow the goblins were delayed enough for Blue white control to get a foothold and emerge victorious. Caesar and his Grixis blood deck faced down Cory and his Jund deck. In an epic contest of skill and a whole lot of luck (jk caesar) Caesar edged out Cory and went to face me in top two. We anticlimatically split top 2 to do battle another day.

Rise of the New Set

Welcome to a world in chaos. Welcome to the world post Rise of the Eldrazi. Thursday night at 12:01 the masses crowded around for the first available packs of Rise of the Eldrazi. There were shouts of joy and cries of triumph as packs littered the tabletops. Before the midnight madness we did have a constructed block tournament. Cory Hall took first place and carried that momentum into the largest draft tournament we have ever held at The Player Slayers. Thirteen people cracked packs and battled out with only four emerging into the finals. Unfortunately it was late in the evening and a diplomatic resolution was found as they all split the prizes.

This past Sunday we had our post release tournament. A few of the new cards received play time but the most impactful seemed to be the new counterspell deprive helping me pilot blue white control to a split with Caesar and his Grixis burn.

April Showers Rise Eldrazi...

Well we are two weeks away from Rise of the Eldrazi. Big monsters loom in the horizon and the tournament scene should prepare for 4/3 hasters who return from the dead and giant monsters that punish late game. But before we look to the future lets check what has been happening here at NLL.

The last few tournaments have shown the quality of players we have. New champions are crowned each tournament and nobody has been able to dominate as in the past. We've seen Alex and mono Black vampires run rampant, Jund has won two Sundays in a row but one was piloted by Kiel and the other by Mark. We've seen a rise in Bant play and Blue/White control is trying to gain its foothold in the format.

We continue to increase our quantity of players as well which is great and we welcome the new players to test their mettle in our Thursday and Sunday tournaments. If you aren't looking to compete in the sanctioned events come in on Wednesday nights and play in our Pauper events. The rules are simple, commons only in Standard format.

Looking to the future once again, we are pruod to announce we will begin hosting FNM here at NLL. As soon as I get a set date I will do a post so keep your eyes peeled.

Also want to say Happy Birthday Frank! It was not a Lie!

More good times at NLL

This has been another fun week at NLL. On Wednesday we held our first pauper tournament. That's right folks, people played decks without any of the fancy cards in it (except of course for Lightning Bolt and Blightning, seriously wizards why are these common?) Try as we might we were unable to escape from the power of Jund. Piloted by Cory Hall, pauper Jund powered through the fights to emerge undefeated. Grats Cory and prepare yourself for this weeks batch of challengers.

Thursday we had a bit of a scare. Halfway through our tournament David left on his motorcycle to go get a car since it was going to rain. He was taken to the hospital. Thankfully he is doing well and we all wish him a speedy recovery. The tournament finished with Cory taking the victory with pro Jund.

Sunday saw the return of some of our old friends and once again Gary and his mono red goblin deck proved too fast and too furious for anyone to handle. Gary what happened you get tired of the Number two moniker you had adopted? Who can stop this mono red monster? Who can challenge the goblins? Why is this deck continuing to win? Why do I ask so many questions? All these questions answered and more next week on the Player Slayers Blog!

This week saw more new faces and more new winners in our biweekly tournaments. Thursday had a good showing of players challenging each other for the coveted tokens of glory. The top 4 saw Stephen and his mono white menace vs. Chris and his mono white agro/control/ally/??? deck. The fight was epic but Stephen's top deck of Conqueror's Pledge pushed him over the top and into top 2.
Kiel and his nemesis Kyle battled in the other matchup. Kiel is piloting a new R/G Dragon deck and Kyle is still trying to achieve domination with Naya "lightsabre". The dragons soared to victory and prepared themselves for battle...then they shook hands and called it a draw. Seriously people it is difficult to write epic blogs when you end the tournaments in a draw. However we did capture a well known phenomenon of the Magic area...Kiel raging!

Sunday we had several new faces which worked out because most of our old faces were at Megacon. Only eight competed for token rights this Sunday but coming out on top was Cory. Congrats Cory and nice shades. I'd go into detail about the deck he ran but it rhymes with mund and it needs no further acclaim to how awesome it is.

March on Slayers

Well this month is off to a great start. This past Thursday we held a 12-man tournament. Everybody was gearing up for Saturday's Gameday event. Top four saw some regular faces and several of the founders were among them. Top honors were split between Clint and Chris after several hours of battling through the slew of Jund decks. So congrats guys for splitting top 2.

Saturday was a great day for The Player Slayers. We marched in force to Cool Stuff to challenge the best for the foil full art Kalastria Highborne. We started strong but only Kiel and Justin were able to crack top 8 and take home the prize. So my thanks to Cool Stuff for hosting such a great event. We all had a blast and we will see you again at the next tournament.

Sunday brought two new faces to our weekend tournaments, so welcome Seth and Brandon hope to see you guys again and congrats on your second and third place finishes in your first event at our shop. Not surprisingly only one mono red menace was able to halt the bant goodness that was dominating the tournament. Gary and his feared goblin deck survived the noble heirarchs and knights of the reliquary to claim top prize once again.

The Olympics were in full swing in Canada but here in central Florida we had some colors being represented in intense competition. February 18th saw a top 4 of Esper, Naya, mono green, and America control. America jammed the mill in a close match and mono green elves took revenge on the Naya machine for St. Valentine's Day. When the dust settled America Control piloted by Clint exterminated the elven population. So congrats to Clint for winning another tourney.

Sunday the 21st was a small gathering. Eight gladiators entered the tournament arena. Fierce competition left two men standing in the battle for eternal glory. Aaron faced his nemesis Gary for top honors but the goblin horde marched to victory. Enjoy the spoils of war one more time Gary.

Thursday the 25th brought several new tournament players into the player slayer fold. The Duke made his first appearance as did Bowman and Canada, although prior engagements kept the last two from finishing. The Top 4 saw the Duke facing Clint in a match that only one would walk away from...we will miss you John Wayne. Kyle and Kiel had the other top 4 matchup. Jund v Naya in the most classic matchup of PTQ's. Fortunately for Naya, Knight of the Reliquary is amazing and helped Kyle make his third top 2 appearance in three weeks. He and Clint shook hands and split the top honors in an act of charity by the champ.

The last day of the month saw a ten man tournament with a strong field of competitors. Steve "Chops" dominated the scene with his rererererererererevised Jund deck. His top 4 matchup against Nate sent the vampires running back to the cover of darkness and he awaited the victor of Gary and Steele. Mr. Poo couldn't quite reach his customary top two position as the grixis control of Steele put the goblins down. Jund v Grixis who would win. Could the ultimate agro mechanic match the unprecedented removal and control of Grixis? This question will have to remain unanswered since they drew out the match...fortunately for the readers I must know the answer. So stay tuned for next week's update where I let you know how Grixis fared at gameday on March 6th or come see for yourself.

The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (and the week that led to it)

Hope I didn't keep anyone waiting in suspense for this next post but it will certainly be worth the wait. We were once again able to host two tournaments during the week of romance. Thursday's event saw a first time winner for the Player Slayers. Congrats to Kyle and his Naya deck for overcoming Marldain and the Mill Deck of Doom!! Show us how you feel about that win

Valentines Day was when the true massacre began. Twelve people ditched their loved ones (keep quiet if your single we will pretend you did) to join us in friendly competition. The top four saw some love as Cj and Kyle rematched their earlier game which ended in a draw. Some kindness and selfless sacrifice allowed Kyle to sneak past CJ and face the former blogwriter Nate in top 2. The Vampires took to the air but failed to slay the Naya machine. So Congrats again to Kyle on two wins in one week. I'm not posting that pic again because it creeps me out. So if you enjoy the pain, check just above for another dose. New Blogger & stuff thats happening

First want to say thanks to Nate for keeping this going for awhile and I hope I can continue in the tradition of your thrilling recaps of events.

Second, a quick update on whats going on at NLL with the Player Slayers. We are happy to announce our own special counter space!! Fully lit glass display cases now house our vast selection of goods (when our delivery actually arrives). Also every week we are hosting three separate sanctioned events. Tuesdays at 8pm are our sanctioned booster drafts and we hold sanctioned constructed tournaments on Thursdays at 8pm and Sundays at 4 pm. We also have instituted a bounty program for our constructed tournaments, if you are the first to beat the previous weeks winner you can collect the bounty of 1 booster pack placed on their heads. (As a side note, Boba Fett is not permitted to collect on bounties since he has a terrible habit of ignoring the wanted alive portion) As for the actual Lan center they have begun hosting gaming tournaments. Alright, on to the good stuff. The last few weeks have seen several tournament winners both familiar faces from the Sub Shack and some of the new slayers at Next Level. Way back when on January 31st a new face dominated the tournament scene. Steve 'the chops' battled Mr. poo himself Gary for top honors and true to form Mr. poo finished #2 to 'Chops'. Gary tried to control his goblin horde but the prowess of Jund and Hell's Thunder propelled Jund to yet another tournament victory. February 7th we had a surprise Sunday visitor, Clint, who decided to show and challenge the other Player Slayers. In case you are not familiar Clint is a reclusive magic dominating creature who we bring out every so often to crush the hopes of aspiring Magic players. True to form he allowed hope to rise and then crushed it. Sneaking in to top 4 Clint then destroyed his competition with the America control deck. Only the previous weeks champion stood in his way but even Steve was not enough to stop Clint from claiming another tournament victory. The Week of January 24th!!!

This week we had a first ever for a Player Slayers event! This week was a mirror rematch for top 2 of the week before!!! Gary vs. Cisco once again...and this time, Gary wasn't so easy to defeat! In a decisive 2 - 0 victory, Gary has claimed yet another win at a Player Slayers event!!!

The Week of January 17th!!!

This week we had an insanely fun event! We had a great turnout, with lots of good times... This Sunday's top 2 wound up being Gary's Speedy Red Goblin Deck vs. Cisco's Speedy White Wheenie Deck! In a surprisingly speedy set (You were expecting that one right?...:-D) Cisco's Wheenie's ended up on top! Congrats Cisco, you got this one!!!

The Week of January 10th!!!

This Sunday's 12 man tournament came down to 2 folks after 5 rounds of action! Caeser with his new Blue/White Shroud deck vs. Randy and his Mono-White Soldiers. After 3 rounds of craziness, Caeser came out on top with a 2 - 1 victory over Randy. I guess this just goes to show ya, Caeser doesn't need a mill deck to win a tournament! Bouya!!! Also, this is Randy's second, 2nd place standing in a recent tournament. Is there a new trend? Could it be that Gary's Buffalo Bill's Curse has moved to another Slayer?!?! Find out next week, as we put the theory to the test!!!

Also, I wanted to give a quick congrats to Randy for FINALLY pulling his first Elspith from his prize pack this week. That card will most definately make him more formidable this Sunday. Next up...BANESLAYER!!! ;-)

The December 27th Event!

The December 20th Event!

Well, this week was the first event at our new location! Everyone had a great time, and we're all looking forward to hanging out at The Next Level a little more often...;-) With the change in venue, also came a change in luck for one lucky Player Slayer. This week Chris and Gary went at it in the top two spots of the tournament. Chris with his Grixis Deck and Gary with his Mono Red...And Gary WON!!!! No more second place jokes for Gary folks. He's now officially rolling with the big boys! Congrats Gary, you have DEFINITELY earned this one!

A Quick Update!

Just wanted to let everyone know about a few holiday changes to the schedule. We will not be holding any events on Tuesday or Thursday thru the holiday season. We WILL however continue our Sunday Sanctioned Tournament tradition this Sunday (December 27th) at The Next Level. Hope to see you all there!

New Location for the December 20th (Sunday) Event!!!

I am proud to announce that The Next Level will be having a "Soft" opening this weekend and we are invited! This Sunday and presumably every Sunday after we will be holding events at The Next Level! Our events schedule will be changing as well in the days to come, since we will now be a 7 day a week operation! The New Location!!!!

Well as you may, or may not know, we are going to be moving to a new location very soon (the exact date is not know yet, but I will keep you posted via the blog). I just wanted to let everyone know a little bit about our new location. It is going to be a LAN center over by UCF. The name of the center is "The Next Level". I got a preview of this place Saturday night, and let me tell you, this place is a gamers dream come true! The Rock Band room alone is going to be off the chain! They will be offering many different services, including video game tournaments! Imagine if you will a place where you can play in Magic tournaments and in between rounds hop on to play a few songs of rock band on a projector screen, or play computer games online, or just chill and catch up on a few things on Xbox Live! Also, after your done dominating the Magic scene, go whip up on some raids in World of Warcraft!!! Oh man, I'm starting to feel it already! Here is the website for The Next Level. Sunday December 14th Event!!!!

Now, I know I said that I was going to be doing a blog only once a week from now on, but I felt that this particular event was SO BIG that it needed it's own blog posting! This Sunday we held our biggest sanction tournament yet with 12 Player Slayers!!! Everyone was there to show support for Chris and his quest to become a Friday Night Magic tournament organizer. Now all we need are 4 more sanctioned tourneys and we are good to go! It was an amazing sight yesterday to see the Sub Shack filled to capacity! Tons of great plays and a whole lot of fun! Four rounds of craziness, followed by a quick cut to top 4. This tourney's top 4 was Chris, Clint, Justin, and Aaron. Justin with his Naya Zoo style deck made it into top 2 as well as Aaron with his mono-green Nissa's Chosen deck (now I don't feel so bad for him beating me since he made top 2...hehehe). In the end though it was a decisive victory for the man that traveled all the way from Gainsville to join us. Justin won 2 - 0 against Aaron in the final round! An extra large congrats on this one Justin, for winning our biggest tourney yet!!!

You Weekly Update December 8th...

This past week we had 2 tournaments that I personally can't believe the out come of... Big Chris has won the last two Player Slayer events!!! His new Grixis deck has been wreaking havok on all who cross it's path! Even Gary's ultra fast mono-red goblin deck didn't stand a chance in top two this Sunday. But then again, we're not sure if it's Chris' deck this time, or Gary's Buffalo Bills-esk ability to consistently come in 2nd place at our events that won this one for Chris?...;-) Either way, someone MUST stop the Madness!!! This Sunday we are expecting a pretty big turnout for our sanctioned tournament, so hopefully someone can put the Dragon back in his cave...:-D

Sorry Gary, you almost had it this time...I have a good feeling about this Sunday though...;-)

A Quick Shout Out!!!

Just wanted to make a quick shout out to one of our fellow Player Slayers... Steele Paxton made 21st place out of 190 people at States this past Saturday! Go Steele! Thanks to all who cheered him on, as he plowed thru the competition with his BA Jund Deck...:-D

I also wanted to take a minute to thank Frank for all the new headers he created for the blog. They look awesome, and add a nice flavor to things...Thanks Frank! I hope to get all of them on here soon. Keep checking back to see if I succeed in this effort...lol

A Quick Events Update...

Just a quick reminder to those that may not know... This is our schedule for events at the Sub Shack!

Sundays @ 3 p.m. - Sanctioned Standard Format Tournament. Sub Shack food sales end @ 7 p.m. (So I can play some cards dang it!...hehehe).

Tuesdays @ 8 p.m. - Standard Format Tournament (Unless specified as a different tourney for that week) and Casual Play. Also don't forget to come a little early if you want Sub Shack food as the shop closes @ 8 p.m.

Thursdays @ 8 p.m. - Casual Play and lots of it! Again Sub Shack closes @ 8 p.m. So if you're hungry, come early!

Tuesday's and Thursday's are, of course, a general guideline. We always go however the community wants at the time. Everyone want's to draft? We can draft... You guys want to play Plane Chase? We can DEFINATELY play a little Plane Chase... You wanna do a little EDH? You get the point. Because that's just how we roll in the Player Slayers Community... Oh Yeah!

The week of November 15th!

This week we held several big group games at our Tuesday and Thursday events. PLANECHASE IS AWESOME!!! Sorry, just felt I had to say that...hehehe Aaron also introduced several of us to a new format called "Elder Dragon Highlander" or EDH for short. We're thinking about putting together a few casual games in this format sometime soon in the future (As it is great fun to play, and is designed around having a good time.). Here is a link to the rules so that everyone can get on the same page and see if they'd like to join in the fun one casual day. Check it out here. So, put together a deck sometime if you like, and come challenge us!

This Sunday we also held a Zendikar draft tournament! We haven't done that in a while right? This week's top 2 were Steele with his hand crafted White/Splash a little Red Ally deck vs. Justin and his Green/Red/White Creature Removal deck. I must say this was one heck of a match. Even though Justin came thru with a 2 - 0 victory, Steele didn't make it easy for him. This round lasted almost an hour in total! In the end Justin's victory was sealed twice with his Arid Mesa/Rampaging Baloth/...Swing for How MUCH? Combo! Congrats Justin on winning a great Draft!

This will make for an interesting token...:-D

Also, a quick update for everyone. We are going to be having sanctioned tournaments EVERY Sunday from here on out! So, make sure to bring your DCI numbers!...hehehe In addition, in case you didn't notice, I'm going to be updating the blog on a weekly basis now instead of a daily one. Now that we are having 3 nights of fun a week, I think it would streamline the whole process this way. Hopefully I don't piss anyone off... (Ya right, no one reads the blog. Who am I kidding?...lol).

The November 8th Event!!!

This week we had a fun tourney with some interesting twists and turns. The top two actually turned out to be Al's Vampire deck vs. Caeser's Jund Deck! That's right, Caeser did not play a mill deck this time!...hehehe And it seemed to have paid off for him. Caeser won in a 2 - 0 victory over Al for first place! Nice try Al, but I guess vamps just don't belong in Jund...

All Hail Caeser!!!

Now that we are sanctioned, we are going to be running a lot more standard format tourney's in order to get everyone prepared for the big sanctioned tournaments. We'll still throw a few curve balls out there (as far as tournament formats are concerned), but we'll keep everyone posted via the blog several weeks before the events...:-) Our next tournament is Tuesday November 10th @ 8 p.m. Also, our next sanctioned tourney is Sunday November 22nd @ 3 p.m. Hope to see everyone there!!!

A few new things...

A few new things have happened recently in the Player Slayer community, and we are pleased to be able to bring this to everyone's attention. Two things. First, we are officially going to be having a Tuesday event at the Sub Shack. Our Thursday tournaments will be changed to Tuesday tournaments, and Thursday will be our "Casual Day" once again. Casual means whatever you want to play! We'll be having group games, team games, emperor games, casual games, and any other game anyone there would like to play every Thursday! The events will start at 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. This week we had enough folks show for the "Tribes a War" tourney, but not everyone had the means to enter the tournament. So, what do The Player Slayers do in this situation??? Why Play the Game of course! We had a heck of a time with several "Tribes at War" 6 person free for all games!!! It was pretty cool too, because we all had different types of tribes. Zombies, Vampires, Goblins, Beasts, and even INSECTS!?!?! We all had a great time and look forward to rolling this format tourney out soon...

The October 18th Event!!!

This weeks tourney has an interesting story to it. We were supposed to hold a Zendikar only tourney. But, since no one ever reads the blog (and I'm not bitter about that...xD), no one knew that it was Zendikar only this Sunday. So, of course we defaulted to Standard format. Aaron (who actually read the blog...Thank you Aaron...:-)) came prepared with his Zendikar only deck and had to make a few changes to it. And guess who won this week?! Aaron won his first ever Player Slayer tourney with a deck he had to put together on the fly!!! Gotta love those Zendikar Vampires!...Muahahahah Now let this be a lesson to everyone, if they would have just read the blog and made a deck, this wouldn't have happened!!...But, I'm not bitter...Not me...:-P Big Congrats Aaron, you are the man this week sir!

This week I was actually able to play in the tourney for the second week in a row....hehehe And this week I won! My vampire Grixis deck won out against Cisco in the top 2 with a score of 2 - 1. After a long and hard fought 8 person tourney, this week it came down to 2 founders for the top spot. Nate's Vampire Grixis deck, and Clint's newly formed Bant deck! We (The Founders) have been toying with the idea of having a 3rd day of events through out the week at the Sub Shack. This is a pretty big decision for all of us, and we would like to have input from all in our community about the idea. What day should it be? Does it sound like something you'd personally be interested? Or should we just not do it at all? We value all that come to our gatherings and we would really like some feed back on this one. Here it is, the events update for the next few weeks...

Sunday October 11th @ 3 p.m.:
Today we will be holding the first ever "Cycle Back" tournament. This tourney will be the same as a standard tournament, but will allow all cards from the last cycle (Lorowyn, Shadowmoore, Even/Morning tides). But you guys knew about this one already, right??? :-D

Thursday October 15th @ 7:30 p.m.:
Tonight is a Standard Tournament.

Sunday October 18th @ 3 p.m.:
Today we'll be holding a Zendikar block tournament, so Zendikar only on this one guys...;-)

Thursday October 22nd @ 7:30 p.m.
This Thursday will be a new tournament style. It's called "Tribes At War"! The idea is simple. Same standard format rules apply, however your deck has to have a "Tribal Theme". Meaning, that 75% of your creature cards (and yes you must have creature cards for this one) must be of the same type. For example, Vampires, Dragons, Angels, Demons, Goblins, Elves, Soldiers, Wizards, Merfolk, Artifact, or any other type. The only exception to this rule is that you can not have an "Ally" deck for this one. As allies would have a distinct advantage over all the other types. Good luck on this one guys, I hope it streches your deck building skills a bit...:-D

No more voting after those two days, as folks need time to prepare their decks. We can either hold a team tournament this Sunday (The rules for which are here.) OR We can hold a "2-bits" tournament. The idea behind this tournament is the same standard rules apply except that you can only use common cards and uncommon cards to build your decks! Well that's it for this months schedule. I'm really looking forward to some of the new formats we haven't done yet...:-D Now, there has been some talk of us doing a Legacy tournament soon. However after some debate on the subject, the general concensus was that we should probably not do a legacy tourney until we have grown enough to offer some of the older cards to our community. The main reason for this decision is that we don't want to run a tournament where Slayers with vintage cards have a distinct advantage over those who don't. As there are some pretty nasty cards out there in the older sets. Some day we will hold an "Old School" tournament, but we're just not quite there yet...;-)

A Friendly Reminder...

Just a friendly reminder to all of the Player Slayer community. We are still fully stocked on ALL Zendikar products! And of course while the competition has jacked up the price on the new cards, just like they always do, we here at The Player Slayers have continued to refuse to charge extra just because we can. We have had to make a concession when it comes to Zendikar boxes though, and we wanted to make everyone aware of it. We are being charged slightly more for the boxes from our distributor (because of the vintage cards that have been popping up in some Zendikar packs), so we are unable to offer a "Box Discount" at this time for Zen boxes. However, $99 (our current box price for Zendikar) is the cost of 36 packs if bought individually, and our pack price still remains the same at $2.75 each. We do expect this to end when the second wave of Zen cards comes out, as they will not contain the valuable Vintage cards in them. We appreciate your understanding on this, as we continue on our quest to truly be "By the Players, For the Players"...

The October 4th Event!!!

I've been posting quite a few articles recently about all the crazy upsets and interesting outcomes that have been happening recently at the Player Slayer events...This week was again, no exception. This weeks first ever Zendikar standard tournament was quite impressive. There were quite a few changes in deck ideas because of the shift in sets. Most folks stayed with their traditional colors, but the strategies were dramatically different. It was quite refreshing to see honestly. This weeks winner went against Clints new "Bant" deck. As I stated earlier, there were quite a few new strategies employed this week and Caeser was no exception. He actually won the tournament with a mono black draw deck! That's right folks, Caeser actually won a tournament without his mill deck!!! In a 2 - 1 victory Caeser defeated Clint in the top 2 this week. Congrats Caez... :-D

ALL HAIL CAESER!!! (That line never gets old...:-D)

ZENDIKAR UNLEASHED!!!!

And finally, the moment we've ALL been waiting for...Zendikar has been released!!! This Thursday the party started at 8 p.m. and didn't stop till 4 in the morning!! There were 2 big tournaments tonight, as well as a whole lot of Zendy fun! The first was the final Lorowyn Pre-Con tourney. And Clints infamous 5 color control won it's final standard tournament... Cisco came in a close second with his mono white spectral procession deck. Congrats Clint!

After the tournament was the biggest event of the evening. We finally tore into the "Zendikar Pyramids"! And oh so much fun it was....:-D

Mmmm....Zendikar....

And the final event of the evening was the first ever Zendikar Draft!!! We'll leave it up to Caeser to make a mill deck out of drafted cards and come out with a win...xD Good Job Ceaz!...

Lot's of big upsets going on at the Player Slayer events as of recent, and this one was no exception! After a long, hard battle with his White/Red haste lifelink deck. As well as several appearances in top 2...GARY has won his first ever Player Slayers tournament!!!!!! He defeated Cisco in the final 2 this week! His constant focus and persistence just goes to show everyone that if you work hard at something it will eventually pay off! Here's Gary (and the Gang) in our first ever group photo...:-D

The Shadowmoore Draft Event!!!

I'll keep this one simple...I (Nate) got lucky with my packs and all the rare's were Red/Green. I was also passed a Red/Green rare when drafting. So, it's natural that I would win the tournament. No good deck building ideas, no great strategy, just good luck...hehehe I'm looking forward to building a damn good Red/Green deck now for the "Cycle Back" tourney...oh yeah!!! Oh, and I beat Chris 2 - 0 for the final match...:-D

First off, I just wanted to tell everyone I haven't been able to update the blog recently, because I lost my camera with the pictures on it temporarily. But, I found it today, and now we're back in business! Don't expect it to take this long to update normally...xD Anyhow, this week it was all about RANDY!!! ZENDIKAR!!! This party will start at 7:30 and go all night long! There will be a final standard format tournament that will include Lorowyn block cards. This tourney will start at 8 p.m. SHARP! We have to allow enough time to finish the tournament by midnight. After midnight we will be holding the first ever Zendikar draft! I can't wait till this event goes down...:-)

This Sunday we will be having our premier Zendikar standard format tournament!

The Pauper Tournament!!!

This Thursdays all common card tournament was quite a success! We held an 8 man tournament with lots of excitement! There were lots of cool deck ideas this time around, sparking the idea of a "2 Bits Tournament" which would include uncommons as well as commons. We'll probably hold that one sometime in the near future...;-) This weeks winner or should I say "Winners" were Clint AND Cisco. They decided to split the prize AND the token photo, just to prove a point. And that point is, you don't need rares and mythic rares to win a tournament, just good deck ideas and a bit of luck! Congrats guys!

Zendikar Update!!!

Now that we finally know how much Zendikar we're going to be receiving, we can finally take pre-orders! Starting this Thursday we will be accepting payed pre-orders for all Zendikar products (Booster packs, Intro packs, and Fat Packs). We are getting a decent amount of product this time, but if you want to guarantee you get your Zendikar stuff, I would suggest pre-ordering it. We will be holding a Midnight event at The Sub Shack on October 1st, with a Zendikar draft at 12:01. There will be many festivities including a "Fairwell to Lorowyn" pre-constructed tournament. The last standard format tournament that will include Lorowyn block cards. That tourney will start no later than 8 p.m. in order for it to be over by midnight. We also have a few surprises in store...:-) We look forward to seeing everyone the night of October 1st!

The September 13th Event!!!

This week was a crazy week... This week there was several folks who joked that Al and Gary would make it to top 2 this week before the tournament started. They said it couldn't happen... Then they said it SHOULD happen since neither has won a tourney yet... Then it DID happen!!!! Gary and Al were top 2 in this weeks standard tournament!!!! Al's Demon deck vs. Gary's Red/White deck! In the end it proved that Al's Demons were too much for Gary's Haste/Lifelinker's !!! Congrats Al on your decisive victory... Now it's Gary's turn...;-)

I think Al should get a Demon token to go with his Demon deck...:-D

The M10 Only Event!

GTS Distribution Shuts Down it's Orlando Office...

Most everyone at our events knows Jon "The Distributor". And if they didn't, they soon learned of him at one of our many tournaments when he rolled right thru them with some crazy deck combo...;-) Well unfortunately the company he works for GTS Distribution has closed their Orlando office and he has left for Washington state. We will miss all the shenanigans that went on at "The Distributor" with Jon, Mike, and Fred (names are in order from left to right in the picture above). Fred went to their Ft. Lauderdale location. And as for Mike...we're not too sure about where he went, but from the looks of his picture we're assuming he may have got fed up with it all and joined a gang or something...xD We're gonna miss you guys, but we still look forward to talking on the phone with ya when we get stuff...

We all had one heck of a time with this weeks M10 only tourney! Now that this tourney's over, here's an update for more of the upcoming events!...

Sunday September 13th @ 3 p.m.
This Sunday we plan on holding the first ever TEAM tournament! There is still room for a few more teams, should anyone else want to participate. You can find the rules for the team tournament here. Also, in the event that we don't get enough folks for a team tourney, we will still hold a normal standard format one...;-)

Thursday September 17th @ 7 p.m.
This Thursday we will hold a "Pauper" tournament. This one should be quite interesting because it involves COMMONS ONLY!!! The idea? Build a deck using only commons from all current standard format sets (Even/Morning Tide, Shadowmoor, Lorowyn, Shards of Alara, Conflux, Alara Reborn, and M10), then come out, play the tournament, and see all the crazy combos that you never thought possible with nothing but common cards! Neat huh?

Sunday September 20th @ 3 p.m.
This Sunday we will be holding a normal standard format tournament.

Thursday September 24th @ 7 p.m.
This Thursday we will be holding a "Fairwell to Shadowmoor" Draft! This draft will be only $7 to enter!!! You get the usual 3 packs to draft from and the winner will recieve 2 Shadowmoor packs! Now, don't think these cards are useless just because they are going out soon. We WILL be holding extended style tournaments once the rotation shifts. So don't throw out all those good Lorowyn block cards, and make sure you write down your deck ideas! This is a great opportunity to pick up some good cards at a heck of a good price...:-)

The September 6th Event!!!

This week we said goodbye to one of our fellow Player Slayers. Jon is leaving Orlando to work in Washington State. He will be missed... However, that being said, Jon went out with a bang! He has won the last TWO tournaments he played in!!! Last week it was his Jund deck, this week it was "The Tezzerator"!!! One of the main cards was Tezzeret the Seeker...

This weeks 8 person tourney came down to Jon and Cisco for the top 2! Cisco came close, but no cigar this time for his famous mono-white deck. Congrats Jon! You really kicked it up a notch!

The September 3rd Event!

This Thursday we held our first ever "Shards Block Only" event! There were a lot of creative deck ideas this week, mostly Bant and Jund, but also some Grixis and others too... The top two this week were Jon with his Maelstrom Pulse powered Jund deck and Cisco with his Rafiq Charged Bant deck! Both Slayers had powered thru the competition to get here, but only one will survive through the night. And that Player was Jon with his Jund deck! In a decisive 2 - 0 victory over Cisco, Jon has proven he has what it takes! The craziest part of the whole thing this week was that Jon and Cisco faced off earlier in the competition and Cisco won...crazy huh? Great Job Jon!

Just a quick reminder to everyone that we will be shaking up our events a bit from now on! Here is an update of what is going on at the next few events...

Sunday September 6th @ 3 p.m. we will be holding a normal pre-con tournament.

Thursday September 10th @ 7 p.m. there will be an M10 ONLY pre-con tournament. (Shards Block only went over really well, and M10 has a lot of good cards in it, so I'm looking forward to this one!).

Sunday September 13th @ 3 p.m. we will attempt the first ever TEAM tournament!!! Chris went to a special effort to create fair and balanced rules for this one, so it should be very nice...:-) We have posted the rules here. Make sure you read them carefully before finding a team mate and building decks together. The team tournament will cost $4 per person and the winning team will split the prize however they choose. Also, we ask that you please shoot us an email telling us you wish to play the team tourney, with whom you're playing, and who your team is (Insert cool team name here). This way we can have a heads up on who's coming. You can email us at

Thursday, September 3rd Event!!!

Well, up until this point, Thursdays have been traditionally for casual play and teaching new Player Slayers the basics of Magic. But starting this Thursday, we're gonna kick it up a notch!!! Each Thursday we are going to have fun just experimenting with different style's of tournaments in addition to casual play and training. This Thursday we will be holding a "Shards of Alara" tournament! This particular tournament will only allow cards from the Shards of Alara, Conflux, and Alara Reborn sets. It will still run the same way as our traditional tournaments, but only those cards will be allowed. No M10 and no Shadowmoore, Morning/Eventide, or Lorowyn this time...:-D This should provide a fun time with the more powerful cards in the Shards block that have a tendency to get shut down early on due to the speed of the other sets. We already have 6 committed players this week and there's always room for more! The tournament will start around 7 p.m. at the Sub Shack. We look forward to seeing you...

Also, some of the other ideas floating around out there for Thursdays are...

1) Team tournaments (You can find the rules for team tournaments under June's "Team Tournament Rules" Posting here on the blog). So start looking for a team mate now...;-)

2) 5 Colors at war and 5 Shards at war style game. This will be a fun style with winner take all prize support! You can find the rules for this format here.

3) Shadowmoore, Eventide, Morningtide, Lorowyn Block Tournaments. (So don't throw away all those old cards once they go out...;-)). Also M10 only and future blocks as well.

4) Draft tournaments. Everybody loves drafts!!! :-D

We'd also like to hear any ideas YOU may have about spicing Thursdays up a bit. If you have an idea for a fun tournament game, let us know! We're always looking for suggestions from our community.

This week held an amazing turn of events!!! First of all I'd like to congratulate Jerry on entering his first Magic Tournament! Soon he'll be winning tokens like the rest of us...:-) This weeks top 2 were Cisco and Randy! In his first top 2 appearance in quite some time, Randy had a secret weapon this week. His 8 year old son Bryce was there to cheer him on! And all his cheering seems to have paid off. In an unbelievable and inexplicable turn of events, Randy's Mono-white soldier deck was able to squeeze out a 2-1 victory over Cisco's new Red/Green haste deck in the final round! The August 23rd Event!!!

Well here it was this week again, we held a tournament and Cisco "The Champ" looked like he was going to roll right through all of the competition in this weeks 6 person throw down once again. He entered top 2 this week in the #1 spot! He faced Caeser and his now INFAMOUS Mill deck! And with all the pizazz and style that he is now famous for, Caeser "Seized" the moment! With a 2 - 0 victory, Caeser is the new man to beat at The Player Slayers community events! ALL HAIL CAESER!!!

The August 20th Event (Thursday)!

This Thursday was an exciting one for everyone in attendance. We were able to hold a 6 person Pre-con tourney with lots of upsets! Three rounds of head to head action, followed by a quick cut to top 2! Today's top 2 were Clint and Cisco! Cisco's mono-white beat down deck has the staying power needed to win quite a few tournaments in a row, but all 5 colors in a control format proved to be too much for the mono-colored deck. Clint is today's tournament winner! Congrats Clint, I'm looking forward to seeing if you can keep your Thursday edge this week...;-)

If I would have faced him in the tourney, I would have beat him. But, the placement didn't work that way. Al got close with a top 2 turnout, but even HE couldn't beat him...ugh Ok, I'm done...

The August 9th Event!

Well folks, here it is, this weeks tournament update. This week we held a 6 person pre-con tourney that was full of action and close calls! Gary and Cisco came out on top. Cisco with his seemingly unbeatable mono-white deck vs. Gary's Red/White speedy goblin deck. After 3 REALLY good games, the last one was the best! Gary at one point had Cisco to 3 life and he had 35, but Cisco's Ajani Goldmane and 2 Walls of Reverence were able to swing the game to his favor! I thought Gary was going to get his first set of tokens tonight, but it turned out to be all for not. Congrats Cisco, you truely earned this one!

I just had to ask what he was going to do with all those tokens...xD

Well, the Player Slayer community has been asking for more access, so we're giving it to you! The Player Slayers official web page is now under construction! This page will be able to offer much more than what the blog does. An updated version of the buy/sell list for singles, the founders (and maybe some lucky Slayers) will be writing articles, and much more! We will continue to write the blog (as it is a running digital "Newspaper" of sorts) in order to keep everyone informed. However, the web site should be able to expand on what the blog has started and in ways that the blog can't. If you have any ideas for this web site, please let us know! We are always interested in hearing from our community. We have big plans for this site over the long run, and I'm looking forward to seeing it all happen! Just a reminder, while all of the competition is selling M10 merchandise for near retail price (Or more in some cases), just because there is a shortage... We Player Slayers believe that it is wrong to charge more for a product, just because it is in short supply(or simply because it is popular at the time). We would rather charge our community a fair price for all of our product at all times and run out, then to jack up the price only because we can. So, we offer a friendly reminder to everyone in the Player Slayers network that our M10 booster packs are still just $2.75 (the same price as all of our packs), our boxes of M10 are still $90 (just like the other sets), and our intro packs, fat packs, and singles of M10 are all still at a fair price for anyone in our community. The August 2nd Event!!!

Well, we have had some pretty exciting tournaments in recent times, and this week was no exception. This week we held a 6 person Pre-Con throwdown! It was a swiss style tourney, three rounds cut to top 2! Top 2 this week consisted of last weeks returning champ as well as a new challenger. It was Cisco "The Crowned King" vs. Clint "The Founder"! After a long drawn out battle with a record of 2 -1 Clint was able to pull off a win with his 5 color control deck. Cisco's infamous Mono-White deck came close, but no cigar this time Cisco...;-) Congrats Clint on you decisive victory...

The July 26th Event!!!

What an event this week was! We held two tournaments this week. One 10 person and one 6 person pre-constructed. This weeks big 10 person tourney had 4 rounds of craziness before we cut to top 4. In the top 2 spots this time we had ANOTHER Undefeated Contender vs. The Returning Champ match!!! It was John "The Dragon" (see "Tokens" posting) vs. Cisco "The Crowned King"!!! After 2 rounds of epic battle, Cisco was able to keep his crown, with a score of 2 - 0! That must have been a tough match considering John was 8 - 0 for the whole tourney! Great job Cisco, you're still the man to beat!...:-)

Now I could write some really cool thing to sum up the second tournament of the night, but I'm not. Cisco won again!!! WTF?!?!? Come on guys, someone needs to slay this playa!

I tell ya, with all these wins from Cisco and all the Pre-Constructed action we've had recently, do I smell an M10 Draft coming on?...Hmmm... ;-)

Just a quick update on the kind of M10 pulls we've been having here since the event. As of this posting we have had 2 official shiny Baneslayer Angels pulled at our events! One by Ken Ball at the Thursday Midnight M10 Event from a booster pack, and another one by Jose the following Thursday from a Fat Pack. Beware of the Shiny Baneslayer Angel, for she will wreck your day!!!

The July 19th Event!!!

And here it is, Steele's attempt at a 3rd tournament championship! This week we held an 8 person tournament AND a 6 person tournament! Both were swiss style and both were a whole lot of fun... After 3 rounds in the 8 player tourney Steele had managed to make it to the top 2 for the third tournament in a row. However, his super fast Esper deck would have to face Cisco's undefeated (in this tournament anyhow) Bant deck! What a match it was. After two rounds, Cisco's Bant deck remained undefeated!!! Good job Steele, I think it will be a long time before anyone get's as far as you did, but all good things must come to an end... Cisco is this weeks UNDEFEATED tournament champion!!!

We also held a second 6 person pre-con tourney this week as well. This tournament turned out to be pretty interesting as well... For the first time ever two of the founding 5 made it into the top 2! It was Chris vs. Clint! After a vicious battle and an over all score of 2-1, Clint was able to pull out the victory! Here's an interesting pic of the top two battling it out for the prize...:-D

Our next event is on Thursday at the Sub Shack. If we get enough folks, we might just try and hold another token generating tournament this Thursday. We'll keep you posted...

...And what a time we had! The M10 release event was a huge success! There were smores, draft tournaments, and tons of M10! There was a pretty big turn out as well. We sold out of everything except a few Fat Packs! We had to gun down some of the competition in the streets to get more...We are the Player Slayers after all...;-) Congratulations to Ken Ball for winning the first ever M10 draft tounament as well. Good Job!

We are now officially buying AND selling individual magic cards! Currently the sets that we offer for singles are Shards of Alara, Conflux, Alara Reborn, and M10 (as soon as it's released). Lorowyn, Shadowmoore, Eventide, and Morning Tide are NOT currently being bought or sold at this time. Thursday's Midnight M10 Event!

Friday July 17th, the Magic 2010 core set becomes tournament legal and available for sale. We were unable to hold prerelease events which saddened us greatly. But there remains a silver lining, we have the ability to hold a midnight launch. And so it shall be done! Thursday night join us for food, fun, and best of all the release of the new cards. We are certainly excited about all the new deck possibilities the new set brings. When the clock strikes 12:01 we will make available everything M10 we can offer. As with all new sets, Wizards of the Coast underestimated the demand their product would have, so all stores had their order quantities reduced. We are going to do our best to ensure everyone gets everything they wanted. We had wanted to offer a 5 person intro pack tournament but that will most likely be cancelled. We are hoping to have enough boosters to do a Thursday night draft but we will have to see. One event that we are excited about is our 1st official info card smore cookout. All those pack fillers that Nate has been collecting will be turned into fuel for a smore-making bonfire. Bring your decks and prepare for a whole new level of Magic!

The July 5th Event...

This weeks event held quite a few surprises. We held a 10 Player Slayer swiss style tourney. And after many twists and turns, our top 4 were Cisco, Steele, Clint, andCody! Steele won the match against Cisco to jolt him into the top 2. Clint was able to steadily defeat Cody to propell himself to top 2 as well. And in the end, it was Steele with his Esper Artifact deck that was victorious in a 2 -0 victory over Clint's 5 color control deck! To the winner goes the spoils... Congratulations Steele on your first tournament win at one of our events! You've definately earned this one bro...

Will Steele be able to defend his title? Will he be able to become the first Player Slayer to win TWO tournaments in a row?!?! Find out next week, same Player Slayer time, same Player Slayer channel...

The June 28th Event...

This week we had a pretty big turnout. We were able to pull off 2 tournaments as well as 2 "Shards at War" pre-constructed casual games. First, the pre-constructed tournament! This week we had a 10 person Swiss style throw down. After 3 rounds of action and a cut to the top 4, Aaron came thru with the quickness! His life gain/swarm Bant deck came thru for him in the end. Though I'm not quite sure his clothes match his deck theme...Hmmm... :-)

We also held a 4 person Shards/Conflux/Reborn draft as well. Caeser came out with the win on that tourney.

And finally, as a test run for a possible "Shards at War" draft, we tried out a Pre-constructed version of the game to try out the rules. And I must say it is one fun way to play! The idea of the politics of enemy's and allies that are also enemy's is VERY entertaining. Cisco and Gary both won a game each, but I say they had slightly more efficient decks built for this set up. I think it would have been a different story if everyone would have drafted and been on the same playing field...;-) All in all it was a damn good time though. The best thing about this format, is we can do it with all 5 colors anytime a new set comes out! It's good fun and I recommend it to everyone!

Also, we will begin collecting monies for M10 merchandise this Thursday. We SHOULD have enough for everyone, but since some items (Fat Packs especially) are only made in a certain quantity, we can't guarantee everyone will be able to get them on Thursday July 16th (at midnight...;-)). IF you want to guarantee that you will have the items you want on the 16th, I would suggest paying for them in advance, just in case. And of course we will have plenty of M10 at our later events, if need be. M10 is going to be one crazy set and I am looking forward to seeing all that it brings to the table. Highlights from the June 21st event!

This Sunday was a bit slower than most, as it was a holiday (Father's Day). But, that didn't slow us down! We still managed to pull off a 6 person pre-constructed tournament that was a whole lot of fun. After three rounds of the Swiss style tournament, the top two Player Slayers were Chris and Caeser! And after an intense battle royal, Caeser with his infamous mill deck was the one that came out on top! Here's Caeser, the only person to date, that has won 2 of our tournaments. All Hail Caeser! :-)

Team Tournament rules

Ok Everyone the much anticipated team rules shall finally be posted so get your deck building hats on. To start I want to explain the rp scenario for the team matches and hopefully that will clarify any rules questions that contradict the standard magic rules set.

The theme: Hopefully players of Magic accept the fantasy aspect of the game and will indulge me here. Essentially you take on the roll of a wizard using an arsenal of spells to summon minions to do your bidding, create artifacts of great power, and hurl fireballs (or blightnings) at your opponents. Expanding on the notion that you are a wizard on a hill overlooking a battlefield and your enemy wizard is on an opposite hill attempting to destroy you is how we are creating the rules set for this team match-up. Instead of being alone on the hill, you have obtained the aid of a fellow wizard. By doubling your power potential you have increased your life point total. However you now have the assistance of another and his repetoire of spells.

Deck Construction: Each player on the team must have a minimum 60 card deck.
The rules for single player deck construction expand to the multiplayer format. No team may have more than four copies of a card unless that card is a basic land.

Card effects: Cards that specify a single opponent still effect a single opponent. Cards that target multiple opponents target multiple opponents. A few exceptions to this rule apply to any cards that effect multiple opponents life totals. This is only logical since the teams share life points. Targeting spells only target one person on a team.

The Field: Each team starts with 30 life points. Each player controls only the permanents that they play from their respective decks. Equipment can be attached to creatures you or your partner control but only the player that put the permanent into play may pay the equip cost. Enchantments that effect your creatures will also effect your partners creatures. (From the fantasy perspective this makes sense) For the purposes of the team matches card text that reads "you control" will be changed to "you and your partner control".

Battle Phase: When an opponent declares an attack they are attacking the joint life total of the team. Thus either member of the team may declare blockers from among the creatures they control. As far as planeswalkers go they are permanents controlled by a single player but for the purpose of the game theme both players can defend a planeswalker. ( To clarify this point imagine that the Planeswalker is summoned on the hill with the two players and to successfully attack him, players must go through all monsters to get there.)

Losing conditions: Obviously reducing your opponents life points to 0 constitutes a win. However for other win conditions (mill decks) both opponents libraries must be reduced to 0 cards. Effects from cards like Mayael's Aria take effect on the turn of the player who put it into play however if a creature either player controls meets the criteria for the win condition, the condition is considered triggered.

Turns: The way turns are operated will be modified using the two headed giant ruleset. Instead of each player having a battle phase each team has a battle phase. All creatures attack at the same time so each player on the attacking team declares attackers and the the defending team can declare blockers. The turn begins with both members of a team drawing a card from their library. Each player may lay a land card. Teams may discuss strategy for the cards in play but not the cards in their hands.

Otherwise all standard rules apply . This weekend I would like to try out a few games in the above ruleset. So pick your partner, build your decks, and bring your best game to the Sub Shack on Sunday (and Thursday as well).

The June 14th Event!

We've held quite a few amazing events to date, and this one was no exception! This week we held 1 four person draft and 1 eight person single elimination pre-constructed tournament! This weeks top 2 consisted of 2 Player Slayers that have never won a tournament at one of our events before. In this corner we have Aaron with his super fast black/red deck! And in this corner we have Gary with his super fast red/white deck! This was quite a fun match up to watch I must say. Two very similar, yet very different decks going at it in the final round. Aaron's speed won him round one. Gary's life gain bought him the staying power to win round two. But, in the end, it was Aaron's Blightning's that won him the match! 3 Blightnings almost in a row would be too much for most any player, and Gary was no exception!

We also held 1 draft this week as well. This week again, the top two split the prize. Cisco and Charles both decided to split the prize in the interest of time, so that we could start the Pre-con tourney. Cisco however pulled another Ajani Vengeant from his prize pack! It wasn't a shiney one this time though...;-) Congrats on the pull Cisco!

Singles, Special Orders, and projects in the works...

Just letting everyone know about our email address ccfmn@yahoo.com. Email us for singles you are interested in purchasing or special orders you would like us to pick up for you (such as a certain type of sleeves or deck box), and we will try and have it ready for you the next Sunday we meet (or possibly that Thursday if requested).

Another quick update as well on some of the things we have in the works. We are working on a tournament that is based on a two player "team" system. We are working to create a fair rules-set that will be made available to everyone as soon as we can. So, get looking for a team mate now and work out two decks that complement each other perfectly...;-) Also, there was an interest in doing a "Shards At War" setup with a draft tournament. This will include drafting intro packs as well as regular packs in order to create a specific shard for each of the 5 players (and Shards), then letting them go at it! The rules for this are in the booklet that came with the Alara Reborn Fat Pack. This will of course be a bit more expensive, but it will involve more cards per player, as well as provide a bit more strategy and bigger prize support than a regular draft tournament. We should be able to try this one out next Sunday if we have enough interest. Also, we are probably going to be holding an M10 midnight premier party at the Sub Shack! Details are not quite worked out on this one yet, but we will be extending our normal Thursday Workshop hours on July 16th to after midnight so that everyone can purchase M10 merchandise. We will try to keep everyone updated on this as things develop. Also, THE TOKENS ARE FINISHED!!! IF you have won a constructed style tournament at any of our events and you have not received your personalized Player Slayer tokens, please let us know and we will try and get them to you ASAP. Another thing we are looking at in the not too distant future, is obtaining the ability to hold sanctioned DCI tournaments. Because of this goal we will be changing the constructed tournament set up in the coming weeks as a preparation for everyone to be able to play sanctioned tournaments in the future. And finally, if anyone has any ideas on things that could be done at any of our events, please let us know. We're always looking for new ways to play!

June 7th Event!!!

Last Sunday was another record breaker! Despite an early retirement in order to watch the Orlando Magic / LA Lakers game, we still managed to pull off 3 tournaments! 1 Constructed and 2 drafts! This weeks winner of our 10 person constructed tournament was a brand new Player Slayer. John from Oregon came in this week and laid down the law! With his Seismic Assault/Swan of Bryn Argoll/ 40 land combo deck and a perfect 8-0 record, John is this weeks tournament winner! Congratulations John, you showed us all a trick or two with your new tactics. Just remember, we won't be so nice to the new guy next week...;-) Here's John showing off his two main combo cards...

This weeks gathering also included two 4 person drafts! The top 2 of both drafts decided to split the prize in the interest of time, so they could go watch the NBA Finals. Cisco and Chris split the prize for the first tournament and Caeser and Clint split the prize for the second tourney. All in all a good day. :-)

May 31st Event!!!

May 31st was a good day! We held 2 tournaments, 1 constructed and 1 draft. Our constructed tournament was the biggest yet at 10 fellow Player Slayers dooking it out! The final top 2 in this weeks constructed tournament was last weeks defending champion Randy and the new challenger Ken Ball! After a fierce white on white battle royal, Ken Ball came out on top! His mono white colored life gain and angel deck proved to be too much for Randy's weenie's. Here he is displaying his #1 card, the Battle Grace Angel. Congratulations Ken Ball you are the winner of this weeks tournament. Just remember, you're going to have to defend it next week....;-)

As for the draft tournament, this week was another Player Slayer record breaker! 6 total slayers went at it in the largest Player Slayer draft to date! Who won you ask? Well that would have to be Cisco! In his first draft as a Player Slayer, his on the fly deck building skills proved to be king! May 24th 2009 Event

With our second event officially under our belt, The Player Slayers are off to a great start! This Sunday we held an event that included 1 constructed deck tournament and 1 draft. The winner of the 8 player single elimination tournament this week was...Randy Baker! With the quickness and skill of a seasoned player, Randy using his famous "White Wheeney Deck" showed all who was boss. The quickness and flawless execution of his deck proved to be too much for everyone in his path. Congratulations Randy, you've earned your spot here today...;-)

Our second tournament of the night was a 3 pack draft consisting of 2 Shards of Alara packs and 1 Lorowyn. Four fellow slayers duked it out in a 4 person single elimination. With his makeshift Primordial Jund deck, Steele Paxton was the man of the hour! Here he is showing off his new

Thursday Workshops!

The Player Slayers will be at the Sub Shack ( www.subshack.info )on Thursdays from 6-8pm for "Magic Workshop". We will be there on Thursdays to give some friendly deck advice, trade and sell singles, and of course there will be some casual play. Also, if you are new to the game of Magic, Thursday is the day we will be teaching new players the basics of the game. So, come on out and enjoy the festivities...:-)

The First Event!

The Player Slayers held their first event at The Sub Shack last Sunday! Thanks to everyone that came out. The event lasted about 9 hours or so. And a great 9 hours it was. After several hours of joking around and casual play, we held one tournment. An 8 person single elimination throw down! After a hard fought battle with an inovative blend on an old trick "The Mill Effect" (he actually milled a guy for 40+ cards!) Caeser was the man that came out on top!

We offer drafts of all current sets and unnofficial standard format constructed tournaments with prize support! There is an $11 or $12 Draft entry fee (Depending on how much prize support is wanted) and $5 for a constructed tournament buy-in. Prize support is based on event participation.
